Miaou Niaou

Barbara Perraki was born and raised in Piraeus.

She studied decoration and at the same time attended painting classes. After finishing her studies, she worked in architectural offices, as a freelancer and in the field of graphic arts while at the same time she studied design and jewelry making.

In the field of handmade jewelry she started in 2000 designing her first line of alternative jewelry Miaou Niaou.

In her designs, the classic designs are replaced with the establishement of forms with abstract or descriptive animal designs, treating the jewelry with a humorous and subversive mood. The main metal is copper which is combined with silver, semi-precious stones and other natural, mainly, materials.

In the new series, squares intertwined with threads in memory of the loom, circles united like our lives, triangles painted like our children's old-fashioned sweaters. The source of inspiration is the present and the memories, the shadows and the light, the emptiness and the emotions, the harmony and the contrasts.
